Vala wanted to reinvent how people manage their health, by creating a holistic and flexible online consultation service.
Our mandate was to provide an ‘anywhere, anytime’ responsive healthcare web platform and iOS app to cater to both personal and corporate customers, providing health and wellbeing advice, diagnosis services, video and phone consultations, lifestyle assessments and patient-owned health records.
Creating something as effective as a face-to-face consultation meant creating two interfaces – one for the patient to see their medical records and activity, another for the clinician to access patient records, connect and make notes during the consultation.
Patient confidentiality and securing patient records were paramount, so the build had to be secure in order for patients to trust the service.
Vala is at the forefront of positive and required disruption to the medical profession. Its offering is a simple one – discreet and highly professional clinicians offering a service of the highest quality in the most responsive way.
Followed Scrum methodology and LEAN, we kept our focus on MVP and a working site that could be released, tested and updated based on user analytics. Our teams collaborated in sprints to create the “health timeline’ - a user-friendly interface to present a lot of information - appointments, prescriptions etc.
Particular care went into ensuring that patient data was safe. This included https encryption, data storage in EU data centres and Vala being registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office and regulated by the Care Quality Commission.
We delivered a fully hosted website at www.valahealth.com, and a back office interface for clinicians. It features video consultations with an interface for clinicians to take notes and view patient records during consultations. With its responsive design and clear navigation, the site allows patients to book appointments and pay securely. Clinicians can access electronic medical record systems as well as front and back end analytics.
